Local non-pilots who are interested in attending Learn to Fly Day on May 15 are asked to reserve a spot by calling Flying Start Aero at the Minden-Tahoe Airport.
Call 783-8359 or e-mail johnb@flyingstartaero.com to reserve a seat at the seminar.
The first annual Learn to Fly Day is May 15 at more that 300 flight schools across America.
These flight schools will offer a free, one-hour, classroom seminar to those individuals who hope to become airline pilots. Additionally, tours of the flight line, including trainer aircraft displays, informal presentations by FAA Certified Flight Instructors, and a review of aviation training tools and equipment will be provided.
There is a general stereotype that flying an airplane is only for the rich. This is not the case.
While mechanically safe and efficient used aircraft may be purchased for the price of a motorcycle, most pilots do not own a plane but share the cost of ownership through flying clubs, partnerships and flight school rentals. These pilots utilize their aircraft for recreation and business purposes. Their sense of aeronautical accomplishment and freedom are unsurpassed and this new awareness has influenced many career choices.
General aviation sponsors such as Cessna Aircraft, AOPA, EAA, SAFE and other aviation groups and manufacturers, along with local flight schools, have joined forces. The purpose of this international event is to promote learning to fly at airports around the globe.
