U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack recently appointed Nevada beef producer Annalyn Settelmeyer to a three-year term on the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion & Research Board, which oversees administration of the national Beef Checkoff Program.
Settelmeyer participated in new-member orientation in Denver in April and will be seated for her first meeting of the full Beef Board at the Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver on July 31.
Born and raised on her family's cow-calf operation, Settelmeyer is a partner in Settelmeyer Ranches Inc., with her husband, brother and mother. She also is a partner, with her husband, in the Eric Rieman Hay Co.
They have one daughter, Rosealee. Settelmeyer is active in the beef industry, having served with the Western Nevada Cattlewomen, Nevada Cattlewomen, American National CattleWomen, Nevada Cattlemen's Association, National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Nevada Farm Bureau, Douglas County Farm Bureau and the Carson Valley Conservation District.
