A report of a smoke filling a downtown Gardnerville office resulted in the closure of Highway 395 at about noon while firefighters investigated.
The smoke was coming from a fish tank motor that had been burning for a day, according to personnel onscene.
The highway was reopened at about 12:34 p.m.
As firefighters were clearing the scene of the fire, an accident occurred 12:23 p.m. at Highway 395 and Waterloo Lane. Both drivers in the accident were out of their vehicles when rescuers arrived.
A tow truck was required for at least one of the vehicles.
