A 46-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos woman faces up to 10 years in Nevada State Prison and a $20,000 fine at her sentencing June 15 after pleading guilty to obtaining methadone by falsifying prescriptions.

Roxanne Mason pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.

Each count carries a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

In a plea agreement with the district attorney's office, prosecutors won't object to Mason receiving a suspended sentence and entering Western Nevada Regional Drug Court if she qualifies.

"I forged prescriptions on my computer," she told District Judge Dave Gamble. "I made copies of an old prescription, printed it, signed it and turned it in."

Mason is serving a sentence in Douglas County Jail for her second conviction of driving under the influence.

While the DUI arrest was pending she was accused of obtaining the methadone from pharmacies at Rite-Aid, Walgreens and Smith's between Feb. 1-28 with fraudulent prescriptions.

She is eligible for probation on the drug charges.
