Carson Pass accident injures five

Five people were injured in a single vehicle rollover about 100 yards east of the Carson Pass Summit reported at 2:30 p.m. today.

According to personnel on scene, one 12-year-old child is critically injured in the accident involving a white Ford Expedition.

Care Flight helicopter was called to transport the child for medical treatment. Traffic control was in effect on Highway 88 at the scene of the accident, which is blocking one lane of the highway.

Firefighters from Woodfords and Amador County responded to the accident.

East Fork firefighters also took to the water in a rescue involving a Ski Doo that capsized with its two passengers 1,400 yards out into Topaz Lake.

The occupants of the vehicle were eventually able to get back on and ride it to safety in the 1:30 p.m. call.

Emergency personnel were also called out to Holbrook junction for a non-injury accident at 12:53 p.m.
