A 23-year-old Gardnerville man was charged with home invasion and resisting arrest after he allegedly broke into a Gardnerville Ranchos residence Friday night, frightening a 10-year-old boy who was home alone.
Todd Patrick Holdren is being held in Douglas County Jail on $50,500 bail. Derrick Lopez was appointed Monday to represent him. Holdren is to appear in court Wednesday.
According to reports, the boy called 911at 10:30 p.m. and said he was alone and could hear someone beating on the front door.
Moments later, the boy told dispatch the suspect broke the front door and was inside the residence on in the 1300 block of Honeybee Lane. Then, the dispatcher heard screaming.
When deputies arrived, the suspect, was walking down the street.
Deputies said Holdren ignored all commands to surrender and responded with obscenities.
At one point, a deputy thought the suspect was going to punch him, so he forced him to the ground while maintaining his left arm in an arm bar.
Deputies finally restrained Holdren who had swelling above his left eye and an abraision. He was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center for treatment and continued to yell obscenities. He reportedly tried to kick out the left rear window of the patrol unit.
A preliminary breath test indicated Holdren's alcohol level at .237, nearly three times the legal limit of .08 for driving.
According to the sheriff's office, Holdren is a member of the Lima Street gang and may have gone to the boy's house to confront an older family member.
