The Carson Valley Trails Association celebrates the conclusion of the month-long Hike for Health Trails Challenge fundraiser with a family barbecue, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at Lampe Park in Gardnerville. The Trails Challenge fundraiser for the Genoa Foothill Trail System project gives participants an opportunity to engage in healthy outdoor activities and learn more about Carson Valley area trails.
The dinner menu is barbecued tri-tip, baked beans, coleslaw, bread and dessert. Beverages available for purchase. Advance tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children age 12 and younger. Tickets purchased at the event are $10 adults, $6 children. Cash or check only will be accepted. Live music provided by Foothill Road. Tickets, Chic and Sue Moxley, 265-0766.
Two guided hikes and a trail run are scheduled during this final weekend of the Hike for Health Trails Challenge. The Saturday hikes are to Jacks Valley/Indian Hills area and the trail at Grover Hot Springs State Park. Meeting times and locations, carsonvalleytrails.org
