The Johnson Lane Fire Station invites the public for their annual pancake breakfast, 8 a.m. to noon Sunday. The price is $6 for adults, $3 for youth, and free for children younger than 12. Not only will you enjoy the delicious pancakes but they also serve bacon, sausage, eggs, coffee, milk and orange juice. This is a great chance to see all the fire equipment and maybe you'd like to volunteer. There will also be a huge raffle and a silent auction. Hope to see you there.
Pinon Hills Elementary
The spring music concert at Pinon Hills Elementary School for third and fourth grades is 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Listen to the kids sing and show music teacher Heather Kuehner, how much we appreciate her work.
The Coffee Connection at Pinon Hills, 2:45-3:15 p.m. Thursday, is an opportunity to enjoy coffee with Principal Mrs. Cronin, and to find out what's been going on at the school.
May 28 at 8 a.m. is the combined Mother's and Father's Day breakfast. Sign up ahead of time so the kitchen can make enough food. For $2 you have the choice of a cinnamon roll or cold cereal with toast, then you can also add fruit, milk, juice or coffee.
Way to go, Gerry
Carson Valley resident Gerry Hutchison received the Volunteer of the Year Award from Bishop Brandy in Reno. He really does so much work for St. Gall Catholic Church.
An older lady shared this story: She was sitting at her dining room table and reached down for her napkin that had fallen off her lap. She let out a loud shriek to her daughter. "There is a big green bug under the table with a large red eye." Her daughter looked under the table to find a pimento-stuffed green olive.
Water issues
I have been reading in the paper a lot about the city water systems trying to be consolidated. If you have city water this is something you should definitely be paying attention to. Apparently, this could drastically increase your water rates.
