Rummage sale Saturday

Nyona's Studio Relay for Life Team's rummage sale is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 1687 Highway 395 in Minden Plaza. Raffle prizes, and hot dogs available. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Information, Heleyna, 783-9997.


Senior driver safety class

The AARP Senior Driver Safety class sponsored by Douglas County Parks & Recreation is 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kahle Community Center, 236 Kingsbury Grade, Stateline. Cost is $14, or $12 for AARP members. Instructor is Irv Phillips. Bring a pen. Those who complete the course may be eligible for an auto insurance discount. Register, 586-7271.


Barn tour Saturday

The Douglas County Historical Society's annual Emigrant Trail Barn Tour is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 for historical society members, or $20 for nonmembers available at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, Gardnerville, or 782-2555.


Studio tour this weekend

Visit local artists' studios during the self-guided Johnson Lane Art Studio Tour, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Free admission. A list of artists and maps available at Carson Valley art galleries, the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, and at www.gallerygourds.com


Family barbecue Sunday

The Carson Valley Trails Association celebrates the conclusion of the month-long Hike for Health Trails Challenge fundraiser with a family barbecue, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at Lampe Park in Gardnerville. Live music by Foothill Road. On the menu is barbecued tri-tip, baked beans, coleslaw, bread and dessert. Beverages available for purchase. Advance tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children age 12 and younger, available from Chic and Sue Moxley, 265-0766. Tickets purchased at the event are $10 adults, $6 children.


Concert series begins May 28

The Summer Family Concert Series opens with guitarist Shane Dwight and his band, 6:30 p.m. May 28, in Minden Park. The free concerts are sponsored by GE Energy and the Carson Valley Inn. Information, Douglas County Recreation Division, 782-9828.
