A total of 409 voters cast early ballots on Saturday, representing 1.24 percent of Douglas County's active and inactive electorate. There was a line in Minden, where 274 voters cast their ballots. Satellite offices in Stateline and Topaz Ranch Estates tallied 135 early voters. Early voting continues 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. all this week at the old Minden courthouse. Early voting polls open 4-6 p.m. at the Sunridge Fire Station on Tuesday.

A Hayward man who showed up in Douglas County jail with cocaine in his sock last December is scheduled to be sentenced this morning in District Court. Jose Oscar Mata Guardado, 22, said he got the drugs while in lock-up awaiting extradition to Douglas on another matter. He was asking for diversion before, but then he disappeared for a bit.

The National Weather Service is forecasting wet week for Western Nevada, as a strong Pacific storm rolls through. Expect rain showers Tuesday night through Thursday morning. The snow level will stay at about 6,000 feet.

As for today expect partly sunny skies with a high near 63 degrees. The wind will be 5-15 mph with gusts of up to 25 mph.
