Joneses celebrate 60th anniversary

Gardnerville residents Frank and Jean Jones celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City on May 7. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Ron Sayed.

The couple were married May 6, 1950, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. They moved to Northridge, Calif., in 1957, where Frank was a banker and Jean owned a dance studio. The Joneses moved to Gardnerville in 2005.

Their anniversary party in a Western theme was attended by 160 guests in appropriate attire. Entertainment was provided by David John & the Comstock Cowboys.

The party was planned by daughter and son-in-law Lynda and George Kahabka and catered by Bonanza Cafe. The three-tiered cake was a replica of their original wedding cake. The invitation was designed by Kristofer Kahabka.

Out of town guests included Bruce and Della West, Canada; Tammy Williams, North Carolina; Wendy and Alan White, and Julie and John Richards from Oregon. From Southern California: Stella and Ed Varela, Joanne and Jack Wigmanich, Shari and Bob Summers, Denise and Steve Taylor, Janice and Reinhard Schnepp.
