Virginia City will honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States of America in the annual Celebration of Heroes Parade down C Street at noon Saturday.
Registration and lineup will begin at 11 a.m. at the Fourth Ward School, 537 South C St., Virginia City. Late entries are welcome.
Norman A. Winkler, a 97-year-old Reno man and staff sergeant who served in General Patton's 3rd Army division will be grand marshal.
Staff Sgt. Winkler served with Patton for four years of which 18 months were combat.
After the war Norm picked back up where he left off as an accomplished Big Band leader and dance instructor from Detroit.
Other accomplishments he is proud of are the loving relationship he has with his two sons, Norm and Will.
Veterans, equestrians, and many more entries are expected to participate. Members of the American Legion Post 56 will lead the parade and their bugler will play TAPS to honor the fallen.
Other events in town over the 3-day weekend include the Battle Born Car Show at the Silverland Inn and Suites Parking Lot, E Street, Virginia City.
