Mountain man party in Markleeville

The Alpine County Museum celebrates their new Monte Wolfe exhibit with mountain man stew, noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, at the museum on School House Hill, Markleeville. Music presented by All Hat No Cattle, noon to 3 p.m. The exhibit features photos, hunting traps and the "lone wolf of the Mokelumne's" signature buckskin jacket. Donations appreciated. Rummage sale this weekend

The Topaz Cure-Aiders third annual Relay for Life rummage sale is Saturday and Sunday at the Topaz Marina, 3505 Topaz Lane. Hamburger lunch. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

The menu for the week of June 1-4 at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville, 783-6455.

Monday. Senior center closed for Memorial Day.

Tuesday. Fried chicken, pasta salad, au gratin potatoes, green beans, spiced apples

Wednesday. Tomato soup, turkey sub, baby carrots, banana

Thursday. Barbecue ribs, French fries, corn on the cob, salad, peach, cake

Friday. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, Caesar salad, Oreo parfait


Sign up for Young at Heart

Sign up for the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Club, 10 a.m. to noon Monday-Friday, in the gift shop at the Douglas County Senior Center. Membership is open to age 55 or older. Annual dues are $3. Funds raised by Young At Heart are used for holiday gift bags, repairs and upkeep at the senior center, fundraising for a new center, and community events throughout the year. Upcoming library events

Water is theme of the Carson Valley Photo Club's photo contest and display during June at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden. Photographers explore water's importance and uses in Carson Valley. Vote for winners June 1-19. The photo contest is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Library.


The Douglas County Public Library hosts story time, 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays beginning June 2, at Lampe Park. Stories, music, crafts for children 3 years and older on farmers market day.


Registration begins June 7 for the Make a Splash - Read! summer reading program running through Aug. 7 at the Douglas County Public Library. Children up to 12 years explore water through stories, songs, crafts, and activities about oceans, rivers, lakes and the creatures that live there.


The Books are Fun book fair in support of the library is 3-8:30 p.m. June 15 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. The Fratello Marionettes perform "The Frog Prince" at 6:30 p.m. and the Library Foundation's ice cream social and raffle is 7-8:30 p.m.
