Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department offers classes for children to seniors. Registration required for all classes. Information at the office, 1327 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville, or 782-9828.

Summer adventure camp activities include games, arts and crafts. Snack included. Cost is $22. Calendars available at the recreation department.

Introduction to horses. Students ages 6-18 learn basic horsemanship, general horse safety and basic riding skills, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays June 8-29, at Mountain View Equestrian Center. Cost is $80. Children under 9 must have parental supervision.

Beginning Riding I and II and horse management.

Students ages 9-18 learn basic English riding and horse management. Beginning riding I is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday - Friday, June 7-11. Cost is $275. Beginning riding II is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday - Friday June 21-25. Cost is $250. Both sessions at Mountain View Equestrian Center.

Everlasting fish aquarium. Students ages 7-12 create aquariums with ceramic plates and nontoxic paints, 3:30-5:30 p.m. June 8, and 4-4:30 p.m. June 14. Cost, $25.

Ballet. Students age 3 and older learn ballet and develop concentration, coordination, self-discipline and confidence. Classes at World Gym. Call recreation department for schedule and cost.

Youth tennis clinics.

Students learn the basics of serving, footwork, volley and ground strokes in weekly beginning and advanced clinics held through summer. Call parks and rec for class times and cost.

Beginning tai chi. Warm-ups, exercises and repetitions, Saturdays at Lampe Park by the senior center. Cost, $5 per month.

Concealed weapon certification. Course meets and exceeds Nevada State concealed weapon certification requirements for handguns. Class is 6-9:30 p.m. June 16 and June 18 at the recreation annex and June 19 at the Douglas County Shooting Range. Cost is $90 plus a $10 insurance fee.

Natural health approaches. Receive a complete personal health evaluation and learn natural ways to support and heal your body with foods, herbs, supplements and remedies. Class is 1-2 p.m. Tuesdays, June 8-29, at the recreation annex building. Cost, $40.

Scrap booking. All day crop with instructor Jackie Gordon, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 12, at Gardnerville Elementary School. Tools available. Cost, $10.

Yoga focuses on the body, mind and spirit with concentration on control, stretching and breathing. Class is 9:30-11 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays, June 3-30, at the recreation annex building. Bring exercise mat. Cost, $40.
