EDITOR:
The Young At Heart Senior Citizens Club in conjunction with the Douglas County Senior Center with the assistance from the students of Gardnerville Elementary School and Douglas High School are preparing Christmas gift bags for the recipients of Meals-on-Wheels and Douglas County homebound seniors. In some cases it is the only Christmas gift which they may receive. It is a wonderful experience to see the look of joy and appreciation on the faces of these seniors when they receive their gift bags.
We will start assembling the gift bags on Dec. 10 at the Douglas County Senior Center. The gift bags will be delivered with the meals between Dec.15 and 17. We plan to deliver approximately 150 Christmas gift bags this year.
In order to complete these gift bags we need donations of small presents such as sample size shampoo, conditioner and hand lotion, chap stick, mouthwash, after shave lotion, playing cards, games, candy, cans of nuts, wash cloths, hand towels, socks and ornaments.
We also need sugar-free candy for our 18 diabetic clients. Please deliver your donations to the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville, NV 89410 or call the Senior Center at 783-6455, Annette Muller at 265-1948, or Paul Lockwood at 782-6583 and we will pick up your donations.
You may just want to make cash or gift card donations to Young At Heart and we will buy the presents. Donations can be mailed to the Young At Heart Senior Citizens Club, P.O. Box 1042, Gardnerville, NV 89410-1042. You have contributed to this project in the past and we are looking forward to your continued participation. Contributions to this project can be a wonderful way for you or your organization to start the holiday season.
