In all, 76.37 percent of Douglas County's active voters turned out to vote in the mid-term election, with fewer than half of those turning out on Election Day on Tuesday. The total number of voters was 21,837, with 9,773 voting early and 2,444 voting absentee. Both county questions passed. The airport weight ordinance was one of many close votes during the evening. The yes votes won it by 278 out of the 20,658 votes cast.

Genoans decided that they are going to continue to pursue annexation, but feel they need to bolster their case before the county. A rough calculation found that annexing 112 contiguous parcels would raise about $54,000, but would cost about $48,000 to serve, assuming the town took over the roads. They also received a petition from residents of Centennial Drive who said they would fight annexation.

Minden Town Board members meet 5:30 p.m. in the CVIC Hall to discuss getting an easement for the Minden-Carson pipeline to cross Edgewood Companies property. They are also scheduled to award bids on the booster station.

Today's weather will be sunny and warm with a light breeze coming up in the afternoon. The low should be coming up above freezing pretty soon. Right now it's 32 degrees in Minden, 38 degrees in the Gardnerville Ranchos and 35 degrees in Genoa.
