With Veterans Day this week, we should be reminded of all we owe to those who have put themselves at risk for us and our way of life. A very big thank-you goes to all the veterans in our country.
With the celebration of Veterans Day, we are also reminded that Nov. 10 is the US Marine Corps birthday. Happy birthday, Marines.
Thanksgiving food baskets
The Salvation Army is taking applications from those in need of assistance for their Thanksgiving meals. These applications began Nov. 8 and will continue through Nov. 13. Applications are being taken at 3 Flags Trading Post on Highway 395 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Saturday.
The Salvation Army is there for all of us in so many ways, and we can't thank them enough for what they do. If you would like to make a donation to them, it can be sent to P.O. Box 228, Coleville, CA 96107.
Football frenzy
The Coleville High School football team has kept on rolling. Last Saturday the won the first game of the Division 1A championship series by a score of 66-8 over Eureka. The second game will be played this Saturday in Coleville at 1 p.m. against Indian Springs. Try to get over there and root for them, as they are really awesome to watch.
I also learned that there is a blog spot you can use to get all Coleville sports info, schedules, and pictures at http://wolfmediaoutlet.blogspot.com. I don't know any more about it, but I'm sure you can give it a try.
This and that
I'm really happy that we are back to Standard Time, since it is now becoming light at 6:30 a.m. instead of 7:30 a.m. I know it will be darker earlier in the evening, but that is easier for me to tolerate than in the morning, since I'm an early riser.
Am I the only one, or is everyone glad the election is over? I got awfully tired of recorded phone calls at all hours of the day and night, asking for our vote. Now we'll just have to see what those elected do for us.
