It's Veterans Day and pretty much anything that smacks of government is closed. That includes banks and schools. The ink-stained wretches of The Record-Courier will be on station today, as will most retail concerns.
There's a parade up in Virginia City today around noon, and Bobby Freeman's Flamin' Rocking Piano will be firing up this evening to entertain veterans at the St. Gall Parrish Hall.
Not much in the way of road controls out this morning. Mount Rose Highway is requiring snow tires or chains. Chains or snow tires are being required down south on Highway 395 from Sonora Junction to 8 miles north of Bridgeport. If you're traveling that way, there are other chain controls before you get to Bishop.
Today will be sunny with a high of 47 and a low in the 20s. Expect more of the same through the next week or so.
