Casinos in East Fork and Carson City posted the largest percentage gain in gaming win in the state, while the main collector of gaming taxes for Douglas County posted one of the largest percentage declines compared to last year. Casinos in Stateline took in $20.03 million in September 2010, compared to $21.84 million for the same month in 2009. Stateline casinos have been on a long downhill slide since their peak in the middle of the decade. Casinos in the Carson Valley area, which includes all of the East Fork Township and the capital posted a 10.8 percent increase for September, increasing from $8.1 million in September 2009 to $8.37 million for 2010.
Douglas County commissioners canvassed the vote on Wednesday, confirming the results from the Nov. 2 election. A total of 21,837 residents turned out to vote, or 76.37 percent of the active electorate. Given the interest in the election, I'm betting that there aren't as many voters in the county as there once were, which reduced the percentage. None of these Candidates finished with healthy thirds in both the U.S. Senate and the governor races.
