John Brown of Flying Start Aero, based at the Minden-Tahoe Airport, calls it an engineering masterpiece - the Redbird FMX Full-Motion Flight Simulator.
"Many local aviation enthusiasts have read about the Redbird in the current (September 2010) edition of AOPA Pilot Magazine," Brown stated in a press release. "You may now see and fly this remarkable engineering masterpiece at Flying Start Aero."
Brown said the simulator is a flight training tool that allows aviation students and certificated pilots to log flight hours at a significant cost savings versus standards aircraft rental rates. Numerous aircraft makes and models may be simulated.
Furthermore, the simulator allows one to fly regardless of existing weather conditions. With the simulator, they can practice flight operations in changing weather situations, as well as in developing emergencies.
According to Brown, the Federal Aviation Administration has approved the flight training device and allows students to enter the flight time in their log books as they build valuable flight experience.
"This is a rare and remarkable state-of-the-art flight training device," he said. "Less than 100 are available throughout the world. Flying Start Aero has, at this time, the only one in the state of Nevada."
