Staff Reports
Employees from 13 Starbucks stores in the Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe districts conducted a pajama drive for the Austin's House emergency children's shelter in Douglas County. Starbucks encourages partners, friends, families and customers to volunteer in their communities.
District Manager Kandace Huntsman and employees from the stores presented 58 new pajamas to Austin's House Executive Director Kathleen Miller and board of directors President Terry Palmitier.
"This is a wonderful donation because they provided the exact sizes needed to replenish our inventory," said Miller. "Every child receives at least one pair of new pajamas to keep when arriving at Austin's House."
Austin's House provides services and care for up to 10 children from infants to age 18. The children are placed at Austin's House after being removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Austin's House provides the basic living necessities including proper nutrition, hygiene, rest, nurturing, recreation, companionship, life skills training and education. The facility depends on continued support from the community to keep the doors open. Information or to make donations, www.austinshouse.org or 267-6711.
