A 15-week ballroom dance class will begin Sunday at the Genoa Town Hall.

Instructor Larry Ward will be teaching cha-cha, waltz, fox trot, salsa, East Coast swing, Texas two-step and American tango, 7-8:30 p.m. every Sunday through March 6.

The classes will be offered at a reduced rate.

"Most ballroom classes are $10 each hour and paid six to eight weeks in advance," Ward said. "Due to the economy, this class is only $8 paid as attended."

Ward, who has 55 years' dance experience, said it is a fun way to get fit.

"In an hour and a half of dancing you will burn 500 calories and dance three miles," he said.

The courses will give dancers the skills they need to perform in any situation.

"This class is designed so you can go anywhere and be able to social dance," Ward said.

Classes are $8 for adults and $5 for teens. For information or to reserve a spot, call Ward at (775)461-0474.

A night of ballroom dancing to music by Don & Nadine is 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Genoa Town Hall. Public dancing is offered the third Saturday of the month. Cost is $8 per person.
