EDITOR:
On Dec. 2, the county commission will consider consolidating the East Valley with the Fairgrounds/Sunrise Estates water systems and the rates for 2011 and 2012.
What they haven't told you is these actions include constructing a pipeline between the two and paying for it. Our East Valley water rates will climb some 22 percent to pay for the pipeline and we get no benefits. Once again, East Valley will be stuck with nothing but the bill.
I called all the commissioners Oct. 26 - four have not returned my call. Only McDermid talked with me but refused to commit that she would vote against any increase in East Valley rates to pay for the pipeline.
The commission has failed to inform the public of the pipeline which will be sized for future Fairgrounds/Sunrise estates growth.
Carl Ruschmeyer said connection fees will pay for pipeline costs.
Anybody connecting in the existing East Valley will also pay for something their rates are already paying for. Has anybody really thought the process through?
In June, the commission voted that it is unfair for East Valley to pay for others. Why are they asking for the same thing now?
Please contact the commissioners and attend their Dec. 2 meeting to let them know you object to East Valley paying for the pipeline. There are alternatives.
