Thankful election's over

EDITOR:

Well it is close to Thanksgiving, and for one I am thankful election season is over. Who would think it would come to this? One of the most important actions an American can do, vote intelligently with informed decisions for the good of the whole country, now being done with such negative feelings. As if only voting for the lesser Evil. Is anybody else tired of this negative campaigning, continual haranguing phone calls? Anybody got a sure fire way to stop it?

I suggest contacting the Supreme Court and ask them to reconsider their campaign contributions by corporations decision. Corporations are not living entities, they never die, they do not have heirs, they do not have "rights guaranteed" under the constitution. What were these great minds of our legal system thinking when they allowed corporate unlimited giving? All I know, is again, the lonely citizen is going to pay the price when we stop being a nation of the people for the people and become a nation of businesses for businesses? Pray business has a soul.

If their voting represents the people then I must be the only one of a limited number who remember it was the Republican party that gave us the information, which has been proven to be "untrue" that we needed to go to war in Iraq.

That it was the Republican control of congress when the consequences of what we are living through were enacted. Instead of working on good foreign policy, or good tax modifications with the Patriot Act, our government was stalking steroid use in pro-ball. Checking into peoples' bedrooms to see who they were sleeping with. What acts of intimacy were they preforming, were they appropriate for procreation? Actually arguing the Bible be displayed in public buildings, that there is no real separation of church and state.

I know, unlike other public personalities, great rights require great responsibilities so I am not being inflammatory with my comments just pointing out actual factual events.

Like the political party that greatly contributed to today's economic situation has been voted back into congressional power with the mandate to do what? Bring back the past. Witch hunts for steroids, homosexuals. Deny climate change. Declare unwanted war maybe this time with Iran. Because they really do have the ability to create weapons of mass destruction with their nuclear power facilities built in cooperation with Russia. Remember that nation, Russia's past president now Prime Minister, when our previous president G. W. Bush looked into Putin's eyes, liked what he saw.

It is very frustrating being a voter in Douglas County, very frustrating to watch seemingly good people continually do something bad to themselves. Is there an intervention program that could be done to break this terrible chain? Maybe a twelve step program, abuse counciling, anything to get people to break a really bad habit and become more aware of a greater cause then profits before people, or using religious prejudices to control public doctrine. Something has got to be done, and with any problem you need to name it and claim it before anything can be done.
