While last weekend's stormy weather made the "over the mountains" part of "to Grandmother's house we go" a challenge, people are still taking to the highways and air to make it home for Thanksgiving.
According to AAA Nevada, more than 3 million people in the Mountain West will travel more than 50 miles during the four-day Thanksgiving weekend.
Families who travel to their destinations by car will travel an average of 628 miles over the weekend, not really far enough to get you to Las Vegas and back, but close.
Some of those families on the road over the next few days will be visiting here in the Valley, some of them will be visiting elsewhere from here and many more will be passing through here on highways 395, 88 and 50.
Regardless of where they're from or where they're going, they will have a lot on their minds, and those of us who are sticking close to home may have to be a little more alert.
Remember whether you're driving to the store, or to Grandma's house, we'd like to see you back here when the holiday is over, so be careful out there.
Happy Thanksgiving.
