A 29-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos woman was ordered Wednesday to serve 60 days in Douglas County Jail for the latest in a string of probation violations on a drug possession charge.

East Fork Justice Tom Perkins told Cassandra Miller she would be reinstated to probation when she gets out of jail.

"Take advantage of whatever programs are available," Perkins said. "You have to be responsible for whatever happens next."

She was sentenced in June to a suspended 180-day sentence for possession of a drug not lawfully introduced into interstate commerce.

She tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine on July 10 and positive for heroin on Aug. 4.

On Aug. 11, she was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Following her release, she failed to make a mandatory court appearance Oct. 5 and was arrested on Nov. 4.

Miller refused to take a test but admitted she had been smoking marijuana.

She is facing charges in District Court.

"I know I messed up a lot," Miller said.

She claimed the last time she went to group counseling, someone had drugs and she took them.

"I really want my sobriety," she said.

Miller spent 23 days at an in-patient treatment program, but was terminated after she was found holding hands with another resident in violation of rules, according to reports.
