A power outage knocked out parts of the Gardnerville commercial corridor on Monday afternoon.
The outage began at 1 p.m. when a contractor operating a boom truck struck the powerline near the intersection of East Valley and Buckeye, according to NV Energy spokesman Karl Walquist.
Businesses along 395, including the grocery stores and several restaurants, were darkened by the outage.
Walquist said that besides Highway 395, Toler Lane, Centerville Lane, Waterloo Lane, Russell Drive, Borda Way and South Orchard Road were affected.
The signal light at Highway 395 and Gilman Avenue was out for the entire time and an NHP trooper directed traffic until portable stop signs were set up.
Walquist said the power was restored at 3:09 p.m.
