The Douglas High girls' soccer team raced to a 5-2 win over Damonte Ranch Saturday, getting a pair of early goals from Alex Laing on its way to the win.

Laing finished with three goals and an assist in the game to lead the Tigers.

Katie Dry assisted on Laing's first goal in the fifth minute while Shannon Prinz assisted on the second in the sixth minute.

Cora Moody then scored on an assist from Laing in the 21st minute and Laing hammered home an unassisted goal in the 30th minute.

Dry capped off the scoring with a goal assisted by Tia Lyons.

Brianna Randall had six saves in the first half while Courtney McKimmey had five saves in the second.

"Tia modeled an intense desire to win all week, no matter what the sacrifice," Douglas coach Lorraine Fitzhugh said. "She had another assist and battles every minute of every game.

"Our up-and-comer Lacey Marsh continues to grow into a solid defender. We're ready to go into the second half of the season playing as a well-oiled unit for an entire match."

Douglas improved to 11-2-0 overall and 6-2-0 in league play on the year. The Tigers travel to Wooster Tuesday and Spanish Springs on Saturday.
