For the last six years, the Carson Valley Inn has been the site of the Bunko for Breast Cancer fundraiser - a boisterous evening of fun that raises five figures each year for services to cancer patients in the Carson/Douglas area and beyond.

This October, the Carson Valley Inn and their sister property Bodines Casino hope to provide an additional $15,000 donation to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center to augment the already successful Bunko for Breast Cancer event on Friday.

According to a joint statement from Steve Forrester, general manager of Bodines Casino, and Steve Chappell, general manager of the Carson Valley Inn, "The need for cancer services in our area is, unfortunately, growing. This disease affects our customers, our employees, our friends and their families. The many services provided at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center are truly extensive and very helpful to patients and their families. By joining together and designating October as Play for the Cure month, we hope we can make a difference in a number of lives in the coming year."

The donation from CVI and Bodines will come directly from the two Mike Pegram-owned casinos and will be generated by casino activity during October.

"We'll add to the donation every time someone swipes their player card at the kiosk each day at both of our casinos," the general managers said. "Some of the kiosk prizes will be actual donations in the guest's name. We'll also add $5 every time a guest receives a 'cure collectible' on Mondays or Wednesdays each week. When we have our weekly drawings (Thursday and Friday evenings at CVI, Saturdays and Sundays at Bodines), we'll also make a donation for every cash prize won."
