A new dog park is set to open 10 a.m. Saturday in Indian Hills at James Lee Park.
The Indian Hills General Improvement District established the park north of the tennis courts, with the parking lot for both dividing the facilities.
Officials said the 13,000-square-foot fenced park will provide a safe place for people to take their dogs to encourage socialization, exercise, play and promote responsible pet ownership.
Several booths will promote pet services. Contests include cutest puppy, best dressed, small dog dash, big dog dash, dog and owner look-alike and best dog trick.
The Indian Hills General Improvement District is seeking sponsors who would like to operate a booth, put on a demonstration or make a donation.
Pet store owners who will be on site operating their booths include Whiskers & Paws Catering, Carson Valley Vet, Nutro & Petco.
