The first road controls of the season are in effect over Mount Rose Highway and on Highway 89 between South Lake Tahoe and Pickett's Junction. There's 8 inches of snow at Ebbetts Pass this morning, according to the snow telemetry. The good news is that all the clouds appear to be lying on the ground this morning. They're probably tired after dropping nearly an inch of rain in the Valley on Tuesday.

There's still a chance for showers and thunderstorms today between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. The high is supposed to hit 61 degrees and we'll see a lot more of the sun today than we have for a while. The low is supposed to start rolling out of Nevada on Thursday night.

Minden Town Board members meet tonight to discuss a speed study on a portion of Highway 395 and sponsorship of the 2011 Douglas County Parks & Recreation GE Family Concert series. The town board meets 6 p.m. in the CVIC Hall.
