Douglas County commissioners are scheduled to hear a report on the progress of the new jail construction and a plan to integrate Sunrise Estates back into the East Valley water system. Putting the two water systems together would mean a $2 average increase for East Valley users by 2014 if the county uses reserves and grant funding to pay for a pipeline to Sunrise Estates. It means a roughly $7 a month increase if it the county has to fund the pipeline with a bond. The average monthly bill is based on a ¾-inch connection and use of 18,000 gallons a month. Commissioners meet 1 p.m. today in the historic Minden courthouse.
