The Stateline man who was killed on Sunday in Ruhenstroth had won the black Ron Simms custom motorcycle he was riding the week before in a drawing.

Timothy J. McArdle, 49, is listed as the winner of a Ron Simms custom Softail in a drawing held Oct. 2 for the Central California Chapter of Make A Wish.

McArdle was riding north on Highway 395 approaching Palomino Lane on Sunday evening when a pickup turned in front of him, throwing him from the motorcycle, according to Trooper Chuck Allen of the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The silver 2002 GMC Sonoma pickup was driven by Dennis Gingrich, 59, of Gardnerville. Gingrich was southbound on Highway 395 attempting to turn left onto Palomino.

McArdle was helicoptered to Renown Medical Center in Reno and died of his injuries at 9:18 p.m.

Gingrich did not sustain any injuries in the collision and alcohol is not suspected to be a contributing factor.
