EDITOR:
I agree with your editorial that reducing the speed limit on 395 just south of Highway 88 would accomplish little, but for a slightly different reason. I don't know how many times I've driven south on 395, and, passing through that intersection, noted that cars are travelling at 32 mph. The posted limit there is 45, but people drive 32 mph. When the limit changes to 35, they drive 32 mph. When the limit changes to 25, they still drive 32 mph. I've passed cars just south of 88, and then watched them pass me when the limit drops.
The county might as well post a single sign at Highway 88 and be done with it: 32 mph.
