Both the Douglas boys' and girls' soccer teams settled for ties against Reno in Reno on Saturday.
The Tiger boys' pulled off the surprising tie thanks to what coach Milko Vasquez called a "complete team effort."
"We were shorthanded with just 14 guys due to players taking the ACT or being out of town on family trips," Vasquez said. "The team effort was incredible."
Reno led 1-0 until midway through the second half when Jaden Mustacchio made an excellent play on a pass from Daniel Calderon to score.
The Tigers also got a solid game in net from Jonathan Gomez, who posted the shutout.
Vasquez also noted the play of Luis Hernandez, Kegan Rahe, Jake Passas, Audrick Anderson, junior varsity call-up Tristan Cohee and defenders Eric Kleiner, Cody Logan, Gavin Fitzhugh and Roy Dornbrook.
"It was good to see the kids working hard and doing their best to pick up some points late in the season like this," Vasquez said.
Douglas now stands at 1-10-2 in league play and 1-12-4 overall on the year.
The Lady Tigers got 13 saves from Brianna Randall, who posted the shutout. The Tiger girls are now 14-2-1 overall and 9-2-2 in league play on the year.
