Girls' Golf: Wurster finishes 9th at state

Douglas High senior Bethany Wurster wrapped up her high school career Tuesday afternoon, taking ninth at the NIAA 4A State Girls' Golf Championships at the Hidden Valley Country Club in Reno.


Wurster, who was playing in the fourth state tournament of her career, shot a two-day total of 81-77--158.


Green Valley sophomore Alexandra Kaui won the state title with a state-record two-day score of 64-72--136.


Her Day 1 total was also a state record and was just a couple strokes shy of the HIdden Valley Course record, held by former LPGA star Patty Sheehan.


Spanish Springs' Tess Jones was the top finisher from the North, taking seventh with a 154, and Green Valley won the state team title with a state record team score of 608.
