Indian Hills trustees voted to extend district Manager Jim Taylor's contract by a year without subjecting him to a review. Taylor said he intends to wrap up after the year, but wanted to be able to turn the valve when water started flowing from Minden to Indian Hills in April. Trustee Dianne Humble was the lone vote against extending Taylor's contract, saying she agreed he's doing a good job, but they should conduct the review before giving him another year. Taylor will receive no pay raise and no increase in benefits.
Douglas County commissioners are meeting today in what may be one of the shortest sessions on record. Among the topics of discussion are a presentation on the Lake Tahoe prosperity plan, and a presentation on the county's strategic plan. The meeting starts at 1:30 p.m. and times out at 1 hour and 25 minutes. Commissioners meet at the Tahoe Transportation Center in Stateline.
Early voting continues to be popular with an average of more than 600 people a day hitting the polls in Minden. Tuesday brought the early voter total to 2,665.
If the weekend is coming, so must the rain. The chance of showers starts Friday and increases through the weekend. Today, however, will be partly cloudy with a high in the 60s and a low in the 30s. The breeze will pick up a bit this afternoon.
