Topaz, Calif., resident Velma M. Axford, 94, died at her home Oct. 17, 2010.
Mrs. Axford lived in Topaz for 22 years.
Born May 12, 1916, she and her husband started their first business in Bishop, Calif., in 1958 before moving to Mammoth, where they opened a hardware store and two mini markets along with their plumbing contracting business.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Frank; daughters Deborah (Don) Rupp and Cheryl (Michael Newcomer) Ewing; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
