The Douglas High boys' and girls' cross country teams are peaking at the right time heading into this week's regional championships.
Tiger junior Andrew Cobourn won last week's dual meet against Manogue and Galena with a 16:36 on the 3.1-mile course.
He finished nearly 30 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.
Freshman Brandon Pankey was ninth at 17:50, Cole Peck was 13th at 18:40, Jeff Williams was 18th at 19:16, Daniel Lundergreen was 19th at 19:16 and Billy Rubino was 20th at 19:35.
Tanner DeGiovanni (20:00), Lane Smith (20:44), Parker Dixon (20:45), Tyler Belanger (20:46), David Ogles (22:05), Garrett Smith (23:30), JD Votel (24:17), Alex Pineda (26:43) and Jimmy Rich (27:36) rounded out the race for the Tiger boys.
On the girls' side, Sadie Gastelum took third (20:20), Bre Chabot was seventh (21:28), Eunice Perez was 15th (22:51), Kylie Flannagan was 16th (23:05), Audrey Moore was 17th (24:27) and Stacey Waggoner was 18th (24:31).
Erika Duarte (25:38) and Emilie Labadie (26:31) rounded out the girls' race for Douglas.
Cobourn, Pankey, Peck, Williams, Lundergreen, Rubino and DeGiovanni will represent the boys' team at Thursday's regionals while Gastelum, Chabot, Perez, Flannagan, Moore, Waggoner and Duarte will represent the girls' team.
"We are extremely proud of the efforts and improvements our kids have made this season," said coach Marc Walling. "It seems like a majority of our runners PR week after week.
"Some are even improving by minutes each race. We have had a great season and are looking forward to our kids showing the same improvement at regionals. The last few years have been great stepping stones for a program on the climb and this team is no exception."
Regionals are Thursday at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno.
