Kirsten Pieters and Eddie Shope are engaged to be married Jan. 2, 2011, in Genoa.

Pieters is the daughter of Alex and Nancy Pieters of Minden and is a 2006 graduate of Douglas High School. She graduated from Western Nevada College with an associate of general studies degree in 2008. She is a senior at Nevada State College of Henderson, Nev., in her major studies of elementary education and special education.

Shope is the son of Edward and Joanna Shope of Gardnerville and is a 2004 graduate of Douglas High School. He graduated from the Professional Golfers Career College in Temecula, Calif., with a degree in golf course management in 2005.

He also graduated from Western Nevada College with an associate of arts degree and an associate of general studies degree in 2008. He works as an assistant professional at Genoa Lakes Golf Course. Shope is beginning the PGA Management Program in addition to competing as a professional golfer.
