A flood advisory is in effect this morning for the West Fork of the Walker River near Wellington. The National Weather Service said residents in very low lying areas near Smith and Wellington may experience some flooding. The river crested last night.
Electricity was out for Carson Valley residents between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 12:40 a.m. Monday. Details are still sketchy, but the area was bounded by highways 395 and 88 and Centerville Lane. I'll post more when I have more information.
Minden weather watcher Stan Kapler reported 1.74 inches of rain fell on Sunday. He said that's the most he's ever recorded at any one time.
The Douglas County Genealogy Group is meeting in Gardnerville 7 p.m. today to discuss organization methods in research. The group meets at Carson Valley United Methodist Church.
Today's weather is mostly sunny with a high near 49 degrees. A west wind will pick up later in the day of 5-15 mph and gusts of up to 20 mph. It's below freezing out at 27 degrees in Minden and 29 degrees in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Expect the low tonight to dip down below 20 degrees, according to the forecast.
