The Douglas girls' tennis team ran its home win streak to 10 matches Tuesday afternoon, defeating Reed 16-2 in Minden to open the 2010 season.

Amelia Ritger breezed through her three sets without losing a game and Kari TenBroeck and Sarah Weaver completed a sweep of the singles bracket by winning their three sets respectively.

Douglas' top three doubles' pairings were perfect on the day as well with the teams of Katie Sawicki-Rochelle Seymour, ZoeVanderByl-Kelly Sonneman and Chelsea Fent-Amanda Caras each winning two sets.

Sawicki also paired with Emily Holt to win a set.

On the boys' side, Douglas beat Reed 12-6 in Sparks, getting a solid match from its entire doubles lineup.

The No. 1 team of Grant Mason and Shane Patton went 3-0 on the day, as did the No. 2 pairing of Matt Thomas and Matt Johnson.

Twin brothers Marco and Jack Gooding went 1-1 on the day and freshmen Joey Swisher and Austin Ball picked up a win in their varsity debut.

"I can't say enough about our doubles teams," Douglas coach Rod Smith said. "They did a great job dominating a pretty solid group of Reed players. Their match scores speak for themselves.

On the singles side, Cody Tindel went 2-1 while Craig Stratton and Pat Johnson each had a win.

"Cody played solid in the No. 1 slot. He plays with a lot of confidence and a touch of swagger that really compliments his competitive nature," Smith said.
