The Suicide Prevention Network of Douglas County is holding the annual Memory Walk 8-11 a.m. Sept. 11 at Heritage Park in Gardnerville in memory of those lost to suicide.
The walk is in collaboration with the Nevada Coalition for Suicide Prevention and the Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention.
"Everyone is invited to walk for those we hold closest to our hearts that never truly leave us, they continue to live in the kindness they have shared and the love they brought into our lives," said Debbie Posnien, executive director of the Suicide Prevention Network.
Posnien said the event is "a celebration of life and hope," in memory of those lost to suicide and to honor the families and friends left behind.
"Our memory walk is an opportunity to learn and reflect," she said. "It will be a personal healing path for all who participate."
The suggested donation for participants is $20 and includes a T-shirt, but no one will be turned away.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the opening ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Participants will walk down Highway 395 and return to the park. Refreshments will be provided.
Participants can register the day of the walk or in advance by mail or in person at the Suicide Prevention Network office, 1702 County Road, A-3, Minden.
Checks should be made payable to Nevada Coalition for Suicide Prevention. Donations are tax deductible.
