The Douglas boys' soccer team had to settle for a 1-1 tie against North Tahoe Thursday afternoon, allowing a goal in the final five minutes after leading for the majority.
The Tigers took the early lead when forward Daniel Calderon blasted a shot to the near post.
"It was a beautiful shot," Douglas coach Milko Vasquez said. "He's an outstanding young man who is working very hard."
The equalizing goal came late in the game on a defensive breakdown inside the goal box.
"Unfortunately, we didn't finish on a positive note," Vasquez said.
Vasquez said his defense of Mason Jackson, Roy Dornbrook and Gavin Fitzhugh was solid throughout and that Jaden Mustacchio and Luis Sillas had important contributions.
"We're playing good teams and hanging with them," Vasquez said. "That's important. The kids are learning. We'll get there."
Douglas next plays at North Valleys at 5:30 p.m. Wedesday.
