The Douglas High volleyball team overcame a rash of errors, including 16 service errors, to hold off a feisty Reed squad 25-18, 20-25, 25-20, 29-27 during the Tigers' home-opener Tuesday night.
Douglas pushed ahead to the Game 1 win before 14 errors in Game 2 led to the Tigers' first game loss of the season, bringing to an end a 17-game win streak.
Reed never fell more than six points back during the match and overcame a four-point deficit facing match point in Game four to tie things up before the Tigers eventually grabbed the 29-27 win.
Douglas improved to 9-0 overall and 1-0 in league play (all Northern 4A games count toward leagues standings this season) while Reed dropped to 0-1.
Unofficially, Shannon Dugan led the Tigers with 13 kills, Brenna White added 10, Keely Latham had six and Erin Allison had five.
Jackie Harper dished out 24 assists and Hailey Sclafani had four aces.
The Tigers will host Northern Nevada powerhouse Yerington Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
