The Douglas girls' soccer team improved to 7-0 on the year while rattling off its sixth-straight shutout in a 4-0 win over North Valleys Tuesday night.
The six consecutive shutouts ties the school record set in 1999.
Douglas had goals from sophomores Lexie Weaver and Aspen Abbott in the first half and a pair of goals from junior Tia Lyons in the second. Junior Katie Dry logged an assist on Lyons' first goal.
Also of note, Douglas (7-0 overall, 2-0 Sierra League) got one of its best players back Tuesday night in Alex Laing.
Laing, a senior midfielder/forward who has 27 career goals and 20 career assists, had missed the beginning of the season after knee surgery over the summer. She put a number of shots on goal Tuesday.
The Tigers host Wooster Saturday at 1 p.m.
BOYS
Douglas fell 5-0 at North Valleys in Reno on Wednesday.
"We started out playing OK, but we let in a couple of goals and got flat from there," Douglas coach Milko Vasquez said. "After that, I started making wholesale changes, just trying to find combinations and formations that would work for us.
"This is just one of the growing-pain games we'll have to go through."
Vasquez noted the play of Cody Logan in the middle and Daniel Calderon up top.
"Some kids are getting better and we're also starting to see some of the younger kids step up and push the older kids," Vasquez said. "We just have to get better."
Douglas hosts Wooster Saturday at 11 a.m.
