More than 110 people watched a debate in the race for county commissioner that pitted incumbent Nancy McDermid against challenger Lawrence Howell, and Dave Brady against anti-government sentiment on Wednesday night. Brady's opponent, Lee Bonner, was missing from the panel, but appeared later in the evening.

The debate over the airport weight ordinance may not have clarified the issue much for voters who aren't directly involved, so I'll do it myself. Boiled down to its essence, if the ordinance passes, opponents say the airport will be noisier. Proponents say that if fails, cost of maintaining the airport will shift from the federal government to county taxpayers.

A 15-year-old passenger in a vehicle accident in Ruhenstroth on Wednesday morning suffered from a broken wrist. The girl was taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center for treatment after the driver of the vehicle stopped suddenly and drove the car into a ditch.

It might be a good idea to cover the plants tonight if you're attached to them. The low is supposed to drop down to 34 degrees, though it could get colder in places. The high today is forecast to hit 65 degrees.
