County commissioners approved new rates for the Lake Tahoe water systems, but said the county will be working on a plan to help those water companies are most affected. The new water rates take effect Oct. 1. The county has to either raise the rates again on July 1, 2011, or have some other plan ready.

It's infrastructure day in Minden and Genoa. Minden town board members are meeting right now to discuss a bid for transmission main materials for the Buckeye Road water line project. Western Nevada Supply appears to be the low bidder. At 1:30 p.m. Genoans will meet to award a bid for the Carson Street drainage project.

Today is Constitution Day, which celebrates the final draft of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. The Daughters of the American Revolution have an exhibit at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center today through Thursday. The county folks often get together around noon in Minden Park, but I haven't heard that they're doing that today.

The last weekend of summer will be breezy with a chance of showers on Sunday. Expect highs in the 70s, with winds 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph on Saturday night.
