One man was found dead early today after a mobile home fire in the 1500 block of Topaz Ranch Road.
East Fork Fire Capt. Terry Taylor said the body was found in the western half of the structure.
He said identification of the victim was pending notification of relatives.
Taylor said the fire was reported shortly after 4 a.m. in the eastern half of the mobile home and was fully involved when Topaz Ranch Estates volunteers arrived on the scene.
The body was found in a bedroom.
At 8 a.m., the residence was still smoldering, but Taylor said no other victims had been discovered.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Taylor said.
He said a dog escaped the fire and had been taken by Douglas County Animal Care & Services.
Taylor said an autopsy was to be performed Monday by the Washoe County Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
Firefighters responded from East Fork, Ruhenstroth, Topaz, Topaz Lake and Ranchos volunteer fire departments and stations 4 and 7.
