A week ago, the Douglas boys' soccer team was desperately trying to break through with its first win of the year.
Just seven days later, the Tigers are coming off an unbeaten week - not to mention their first two shutouts since last season.
Douglas tied league-leading Galena 0-0 Friday afternoon to put the wraps on a solid week that could signify a turning point in the season.
"We played with a lot of courage today," Douglas coach Milko Vasquez said. "Our boys stepped up to the challenge.
"Galena is very athletic and their skill level is better than ours. But the tie definitely goes to the team as a whole. They all worked their tails off. They played with a lot of poise."
Douglas got an exceptional game from Gavin Fitzhugh, who was assigned to Galena's go-to forward.
Francisco Sanchez posted his second consecutive shutout (Douglas beat Manogue 2-0 earlier in the week).
"We created some chances for goals and we were right there in it. We just have to come back ready to work next week and hopefully improve on what we did these last two games."
